GB ENGINEERING

GB Engineering is a company founded in 2011 by Mr Guillaume Babin, a Mechanical Engineer (Université Paris 11, France & Kingston Polytechnic, UK) specialized in Noise and Vibrations aboard ships.

The company has been involved in various studies, calculations, sea trials, damage surveys related to noise, vibrations and dynamic behaviour for all size of shipyards or fleet owners, on more than 320 ships such as cruise liners, passenger/car ferries, ro-ros, LNG carriers, tankers, ore carriers, yachts, research and oceanographic vessels, OPVs, supply vessels, tug boats, fish boats and offshore structures (platforms, FPSOs etc.).

Previously Guillaume Babin worked in the aeronautical industry and for a manufacturer of resilient mountings, before joining Chantiers de l’Atlantique, in Saint-Nazaire, France, in the early 90's where he has been project manager responsible for:

  • Underwater acoustic performances of oceanographic vessels, such as BEAUTEMPS BEAUPRE – SHOM (2003) and POURQUOI PAS? – IFREMER (2005)
  • Underwater noise assessments and associated measurements for EUROPE (1993) and THALASSA (1996), IFREMER, and seismic vessel CGG ALIZE (1999),
  • Comfort on board fast ferries (HSC) such as GOTLAND (1999), AEOLOS EXPRESS I & II, LIAMONE, AEOLOSS KENTERIS (2001) …
  • Comfort on board mega cruise vessels such as NORWEGIAN EPIC (2010), and was deeply involved in 38 cruise vessels built in Saint-Nazaire, including QUEEN MARY 2, from early stage of projects to delivery and beyond.
